We heave done research on finding some great natural cleaning solutions! The green movement is here to stay and we hope to help you ease into it.

We’ve eased into it very slowly and still have much more to learn! We make one cleaner in 3 different spray bottles for everything in the house except for the dishwasher and laundry. Although to clean the toilets and sometimes tubs we spray with this solution, sprinkle with baking soda, let it set for 10-15 minutes, and then scrub. We have 1 spay bottle for under the kitchen sink to handle all the cleaning downstairs and one in each of the bathrooms upstairs.

Our Natural Cleaning Solution…

1 part distilled vinegar

2 parts filtered water

a few drops of lemon essential oil

25 drops of grapefruit seed extract

We all want to save money and keep our indoors free of toxic chemicals. The best way to do that is to make your own cleaning products. Becoming environmentally conscious takes baby steps. All natural cleaning products are just a tip of the ice burg. Not quiet into making your own yet? That’s alright you can still buy them and make an impact on your home and environment!

Making your own may take a little longer than just buying it from the store, but it’s worth it. Not only will you have less waste, but you are preventing toxic chemicals from going into our water supply. Using an all natural cleaning product that you can make for pennies at home will also save on pollution going into our air to make them in a factory.

Baby steps like making your own  is the best first step to becoming a little more environmentally conscious and saving money. However, if your baby step is to purchase them please do so knowing that you are still making a huge difference! Not only in your own home, but also for the environment!

I’ve been doing this long enough to know what to look for when hiring a local carpet cleaner. So, I’ve come up with some solid advice and tips for you while researching which local carpet cleaner best fits your needs…

• Be aware of the coupon bait and switch games. When hiring a local carpet cleaner, ask specific questions about what is included and not included with their service! We have heard of some carpet cleaners who will give you a great quote and then add on costs at the site.  Be honest with the work that you need done and exact measurements if possible. If Jinxy cat has been urinating on your carpet for 5 years let them know that. You really want to be honest and upfront about everything you can think of with regards to your carpet history. Remember, you do get what you pay for! So, the cheapest carpet cleaner may not be what will work for your situation.

• Carpet is made with a water soluble glue and the wetter you get it, the quicker it wears out. So, the best carpet cleaning process is a low moisture cleaning system. This process will double the life of your carpet. Look for a local carpet cleaner that uses this process which allows most carpets to dry in an hour! Of course, if their are pet stains you will need special isolated attention to those areas.

• Do your research! I have found that unsolicited third party review such as Google, Yelp, Bing, Facebook, and Yahoo will help you with finding the perfect local carpet cleaner. Look for a solid and  reputable company that’s been around awhile.

• Using a local carpet cleaner that is honest without hidden costs benefits your community by keeping the dollar local.

• Look for a local carpet cleaner that offers exact appointment times that will be respectful of your time.

• Above all listen to your gut and recommendations from friends and family.
